Absolute joke of a referee performance today. Destroyed the game with the sending off, blatant disregard of a Liverpool penalty at 1-1, coupled with a disgraceful decision for the Utd one. For a supposed top premier League ref Halsey has bottled major decisions all afternoon. Should be ashamed of that performance.
23 Sep 2012 - 15:21 BSTjon
I simply don't care who was this man in private, but since he can obviously make match result warped, he is a disregard. Clearly unfair red (sic!) card and penalty from the hat. Should be ashamed of that performance!
23 Sep 2012 - 15:29 BSTwum
His mind was on getting t-bagged by fergies hairy nutsack the whole game.
23 Sep 2012 - 15:32 BSTgiliust
Cheat. Check his finances. Anyone who says they can't be against us, especially given the significance of the occasion today, is a hopeless case.
23 Sep 2012 - 15:34 BSTrayzor
What a terrible performance by the ref, no consistency in descisions. If Shelvey had to be sent off, Evans had to go as well, RVP's challenge two footed nowhere near the ball, should have been red. As for the penalty, he went down with no contact, penalty given, Suarez, clearly fouled by Evans, no penalty given. Ridiculous, Halsey should never ref a premier league match again. The man is an utter disgrace.
23 Sep 2012 - 15:36 BSTBarryZola
Complete joke. The man needs to retire
23 Sep 2012 - 15:36 BSTrealist
Two significant errors combined with a string of poor decisions and lack of consistency. Red card on Shelvey was so wrong. Both players in 50/50 challenge. Evans had Both feet off the ground (showing both sets of studs) at point of contact, Shelvey had standing foot on ground and won ball! Penalty was outright dive. This referee was a disgrace to the game.
23 Sep 2012 - 15:47 BSTbeatlesmith
This was the worst refereeing performance I have ever witnessed. Liverpool dominated the game and fully deserved to win this match. The reason they did not was not down to bad luck or being unable to take their opportunities but was down to the performance of the referee. His performance today was an absolute joke and he gave Liverpool absolutely nothing today. He should never be allowed to referee a Liverpool or Manchester United match again because he is either biased against Liverpool or biased in favour of Man United (or both). I am disgusted and he should be ashamed of himself.
23 Sep 2012 - 15:54 BSTjbayf86
1 star for turning up on time and successfully timing 90 minutes... no further stars
23 Sep 2012 - 15:54 BSTtazzdev1l
Worst refereeing performance ever in the history of the game. Denied us two clear penalties, gave United every single decision, I can't even remember one call that we got. Sent a player of ours off when the other player should have been sent off for going in two footed. Awarded a penalty a player who dived. I'm in disbelief at the moment, how is this man still with a job. I can't believe it, what a shambles of a referee.
23 Sep 2012 - 16:02 BSTGraymanSA
Disgusted is mild, Halsey is a Premier league referee so the bias against Liverpool FC is to be expected, what surprised me today was the blatancy of the bias, I told my mate when I predicted this game, if we have a fair referee we will win the game, I also told him at half time that we would concede a penalty, I dont understand how this ridiculous situation can be allowed to continue, last week Suarez goes down under contact and gets booked, Wellbeck blatant dive and Oliver give the penalty, today Halsey was literally dying to give a spot against Liverpool. Premier league football is a farce, EVERY!!!!! game is filled with controversy it is such a shame.
23 Sep 2012 - 16:05 BSTcurtiz
Is it possible to give 0 stars. Absolute disgrace 1) Agger penalty 2) Valencia Penalty 3) Sending off 4)Suarez Penalty 5) Van Persie Challenge 6) Evans Challenge Disgusting
23 Sep 2012 - 16:08 BSTthewelshjon@hotmail.
shouldnt even be able to ref sunday park games on this showing
23 Sep 2012 - 16:16 BSTNeverdidski
He was reffing Liverpool, not MU. this happens a lot and is unfortunate, but it's about assuming UTD are the good guys and making sure no decision they make could impair their game.
23 Sep 2012 - 16:33 BSTm.halsey@yahoo.com
I thought i had a great game hmmmm now what shall i spend the brown envelope on
23 Sep 2012 - 16:41 BSTAnfieldshankly
Absolute joke. Should have to explain his inconsistent decisions. Should be stripped of his badges or demoted to Sunday league. Should apologise for not doing his job. Kick him out. If he is allowed to continue then it just shows the extent of the corruption
23 Sep 2012 - 17:18 BSTCatherine J
Dreadfull dreadfull performance......you really should be held to account for such an awful display by your employers......thats never going to happen though is it. if you were a doctor you would be struck off.......hang your head in shame.
23 Sep 2012 - 17:34 BSTThe real Fergie
Truly awful. Even over the years where referees have been responsible for so much Manchester Utd success, this performance stands out. Obviously this guy will be commended by the FA rather than meet his deserved fate (demoted/sacked etc). If this sort of thing happened outside a football context there would be uproar. Another 3 points gifted to the Mancs thanks to the authorities
23 Sep 2012 - 18:07 BSTPOOKSTER
One word disgraceful!!!!! I only gave ref 1 star because you can't give them none!!!! Yet another game ruined and destroyed by a referee who wants to be the star of the show!!! Evans should also of been sent off as both his feet left the ground as well but cause he rolled about for 10 minutes Shelvey goes an he stays. As for there penalty there was no lfc player near him. About 15 mins earlier Vera hacked Sterling down an didnt even get a yellow!!! All I ask for is fairness from referees. Both Shelvey and Evans should of gone. I'll end as I began DISGRACEFUL!!!!
23 Sep 2012 - 18:30 BSTmorrisg82
Another one of Ferguson's puppets. Ferguson goes home today wih a brown arm after pulling it out of Halsey's ass!!!
23 Sep 2012 - 20:25 BSTscully1962
Disgraceful performance from a crooked ref!!...he should be emberassed to call himself a man after that performance!!.........keep taking fergies money halsey..you dirty bent ref!!
23 Sep 2012 - 21:02 BSTbigsteve79
Does the FA or the "referee" I use that in the loosest term possible actually see these comments or feedback. I doubt it, If they do Mr Halsey AKA howard webb #2 Fergies fucking lapdog, I don't believe for a single second referees aren't corrupt. Look at the situation, the sheer amount of cash in the game and the fact that the scum (man u) are the fucking FA's poster boys, a poster covered in FA jism I may add, The FA cant have the mancs losing games can they that wouldn't be good for them. So the refs are instructed to favour the mancs in A LOT of decisions often to being the point of ridiculous. An independent investigation needs to happen now, and its not just because they were playing Liverpool, and we know the FA hate us. its against everyone they play. I could spout dozens of examples but i haven't got all week. No point discussing the incidents today, as it wont make any difference. The ref is a fergie swallowing howard webbs ball tickling embarrassment.

Absolutely terrible, very very inconsistent and got all the big calls wrong.
23 Sep 2012 - 23:14 BSTbeauaravir@gmail.com
Since 2004 Man Utd have never lost a Premier League game refereed by Mark Halsey
23 Sep 2012 - 23:15 BSTbeauaravir@gmail.com
Since 2009 Mark Halsey has refereed 2 United games and has awarded them penalties on both occasions
23 Sep 2012 - 23:20 BSTbeauaravir@gmail.com
The last time Liverpool lost to United at Anfield was on 16 December 2007 and "coincidently" Mark Halsey was the referee on that occasion as well
24 Sep 2012 - 09:19 BSTedwardz
Mu played like a championship team today so needed the help of Mark the Ref (MTR) to help them win this match. But inspite of playing against 12 men, our 10 red men made all LFC fans and the neutral fans watching this game, proud of the way they played their football. Too bad they didnt have a proven striker to put the ball into the net, that was the only thing missing in LFC's game. But I must say (and I am from Singapore) I am surprised by the amateurish and 3rd world standard of referring today from MTR. Even our local referees could better referee that match. It is a poor, sad advertisement of the EPL referees for the world to see and judge.
24 Sep 2012 - 09:26 BSTedwardz
another thing to add, it seems that referees somehow tend to favour the manures in a lot of matches that they play in the EPL...is there a conspiracy going on because of 'fergie time/influence' ?...Lets all take note of the decisions that the referees make in the matches that involve the manures. Is there evidence of a conspiracy?
24 Sep 2012 - 16:25 BSTgruff
If that was a top class ref then god help us. I am not saying that he was on Utd's side but I am sure that he was high fiving Reo at the end of the game. I do not go in for Ref bashing normally, as they have a hard job to do but he was not consistant at all and come the end of the game he was actually laughing when he gave a free kick against Liverpool. If a two footed tackle is a straight red then Utd should have had Evans, RVP and the other frenchman (who all jumped in) sent off. He ruined a good game. The FA will award him top marks for keeping Fergie happy and he will keep getting the top games. The idiots that sent him the twitter comments should hang their heads in shame after what happened before the game for the 96 but he was very poor
24 Sep 2012 - 17:22 BSTcatherine
The ink on his cheque from fergie is just about dry! he shouldn't even ref matches in a playground, should be relegated not just out of premier league but out of football, complete disgrace he even makes howard webb look unbiased
24 Sep 2012 - 17:58 BSTLichfan
In the interest of balance I think it fair to point out that on MOTD2, Mark Lawrenson a former Liverpool player agreed that the ref got the decisions right. I cannot understand why Liverpool fans insist on this massive over reaction. The worst refereeing ever? Get a grip guys. As ever, its a different reaction when the decisions go in your favour.
24 Sep 2012 - 18:27 BSTShadysDreams
He couldn't of made it more obvious if he stuck a United shirt on. Mark Lawrenson has always had issues with LFC, wouldn't think he actually played there. He was very one-sided with his decisions. Never seen anything like that before, not even Howard Webb. He didn't even give LFC any fouls now and again just to make it LOOK good.. just blatant. He should be fined and/or sacked for that game alone. Shocking.
24 Sep 2012 - 21:35 BSTscouserob
Why is a referee who lives in Bolton allowed to officiate a match like this. I sense some bias here.
25 Sep 2012 - 11:17 BSTkirkbykid
disgraceful performance from halsey surely 51 years of age is to old. fa need to look at recruiting referees from ex-players from lower leagues who know the game maximum age 45 and pay them well.i bet theres no ref who as played at any kind of decent level who is officating in the epl, suarez is going to have to be knocked out to get a pen cmon you reds
25 Sep 2012 - 19:20 BSTscouserob
Halsey owns a restaurant in Bolton guess who is a regular dinner there.
