This match could have been the final and I thought that Herbert Fandel did an excellent job. Finding the "right" officiating style when two teams of such caliber are playing must be hard. How much should you whistle? What do you sanction and what do you let go? Brave call on not giving a PK for France when a Dutch player deflected Henry's shot on goal with his shoulder. This was a clear situation of "ball to hand" and it was the right call to make. Finally a yellow card to Makelele. Thank you. I think if Fendel had given Makelele a second yellow and a red, it would have been justified. Herbert decided not to and that's his prerogative. For sure, with France down to 10 players, the score would have been a lot heavier than 4-1 for the Dutch. Really, Fandel put out a great performance overall.

Steady but not strong enough, held back on the cards too much. Dont think it would have chased the score too much though!!
